Arthropodium cirratum ‘Matapouri Bay’ (Rengarenga Lily) is a hardy, New Zealand native perennial, valued for its striking flowers, bold foliage, and coastal tolerance. It’s ideal for low-maintenance, naturalistic, and coastal gardens.

 

Description

  • Clump-forming perennial with long, strap-like green leaves

  • Produces clusters of star-shaped white to pale pink flowers on tall stems in summer

  • Forms dense, attractive clumps up to 50–70 cm high

  • Hardy and long-lived, with dramatic seasonal flowering

 

Growing Conditions

  • Thrives in full sun to partial shade

  • Prefers well-drained soil, tolerates sandy and coastal soils

  • Moderate watering; drought-tolerant once established

  • Hardy to wind, frost, and coastal exposure

  • Low maintenance; remove old leaves and spent flower stems if desired
